ISBN: 1859061532 Hardback book and traditional handmade cymbals $29.95 I've had a pair of Ting-sha for years and always heard them called "Tibetan Prayer Bells." We used them to clear the air with vibration and announce the beginning of certain parts of ritual. Who knew they were so much more? Evidently Robert Beer did because he has created a (much needed) very comprehensive study of this lovely piece. The cymbals that come with the kit are heavy and of good quality. The book gently takes us through the traditional uses of the cymbals, the meanings of all of the symbols and the purpose and use of the harmonic vibrations they create. Specific rituals for their use are included, as well as a brief foray into "practising loving kindness." The book is a quick, but informative read and very well worth the investment of time and money. 5

After that introduction, it launches into an impressive collection of spells, meditations and practical application of essentials oils and scents. ISBN: 1578633168 $16.95 To contain so much delightful and interesting information and fun ideas, this book definitely does not take itself seriously, which makes it all the more fun. At the beginning of the section on divination with dice, for instance, are two wonderful quotes: "God does not play dice" -- Albert Einstein and "Yes he does," -- Stephen Hawking. That gave me a wonderful little hee hee. Drawing not only from the usual suspects such as dominoes, The Tarot and playing cards, Duquette takes us even further by using Mark Twain, Shakespeare and "The I-Ching of Mi-Lo," among others. The title does not lie. Anyone with this book in their library will have a wonderful understanding of how oracles work and the care, feeding and usage of more than anyone needs in a lifetime. It's just plain fun. 5

ISBN: 1578632552 $19.95 "I drop my fears into your ocean and watch them sink from sight. I place my fears on your broad Earth and see them rot away. I put my fears into your hands and they are no more. When you offer your arms to me, Great Mother, your hands hold nothing but love." Ceisiwr Serith Too often I have found that Pagans shun the word "prayer," feeling it to be too much a product of organized religion. There is no grander word for the most personal communication with Deity and I am pleased to it embraced so warmly in the pages of this long needed book. In lovely prose and heart-stopping emotion, this lovely book takes us on a sacred journey through all aspects of prayer. One of the most satisfying characteristics of this book that I enjoyed immensely is that while the interaction with personal Gods and Goddesses is extremely worshipful, respectful and mutual, it is not a relationship of supplication. There is a wonderful chapter included on the subject of offerings and the reflection of the natural flow of things reflected in the act. While the first 68 pages of this 272 page volume is dedicated to a complete exploration of prayer, the remaining pages are by far the most creative, evoking and easy to use collection of Pagan prayers I have ever had the pleasure to encounter. If ever there existed a "Psalms and Proverbs" for Pagans, this would be it. I will use this book extensively, both in my own private practice and in group work. It is just absolutely... dear. 5

Angel
Oracle Deck: Let the Healing Energy of Angels into Your Life (Hardcover) ISBN: 1859061516 $11.95 As I, upon opening this deck, proceeded to ooh and ah and coo over it, my first thoughts were, "this woman has to write a book on angels." After a good bit of digging, I found she has already done so, The Angelic Year. I promptly ordered it and look forward to its arrival. There are so many aspects of this deck that I appreciate that it is hard to know where to get started in the praise. I suppose what is most impressive is what I don't like in most situations that I do like about this deck. As a Tarot/oracle reader for twenty years now, I enjoy colorful decks. This oracle is the opposite. It is done entirely in golds, beiges and muted reds. For this deck, however, the nearly monochromatic color scheme works well. Normally I am not an angel person. I own several angel books and have had a passing interest, but the subject never really grabbed me. As I looked at each of these seemingly simple cards, I found that I wanted to know more about each and every angel depicted. Fortunately, the small booklet provided with the deck does just that. It's difficult to tell from the photo below (my flatbed scanner, sadly, is no longer in the world of the functional), but each card has an angel depicted in the center in lovely drawings done by... whom? The copywrite for the illustrations is held by Warren Maddill, but beyond that, I am not finding an art credit here. Each angel is depicted as a distinct entity, lovely in their own way. The title the angel holds is at the top of the card and a positive affirmation that they bring is written at the bottom. This card is The Guardian Angel of Children. I have included the affirmation, since it is unreadable on the card:
To demonstrate how well this deck works in the simplest form, I shuffled the cards while focusing on the question, "what does the future hold for us as a family?" This is the card that I drew and the book tells me, among other things, "This beautiful angel guards and protects all that is new and young in life, especially newborn babies. It watches over anything that is beginning to grow and that needs extra nourishment, gentleness and care." Interestingly enough, as I drew this card, my husband was taking his test to get his state contractors license, which is a major step in the new business he is creating, so the influence described was quite timely. My only criticism is that the book is quite small. If ever a deck was worthy of a large book and deck set with ample explanations of each cards, it's this one. 4

ISBN: 1859061508 $16.95 Although "true" Asatru practitioners have long scorned rune patriarch Ralph Blum, he has always been a favorite of mine. I was hooked on his "Book of Runes," which explores the 25 basic Germanic runes and provides very apt and even poetic translations of each one. In Serenity Runes, Blum shifts into a different direction, isolating five of the runes, Odin, Wunjo, Kano, Teiwaz and Thurisaz to represent respectively God, Serenity, Acceptance, Courage and Wisdom. He then takes those runes/ideas and applies them to the Serenity Prayer (by Rev. Reinhold Nieburh). Speaking candidly about his own addiction, Blum provides a gentle and soothing association of these particular runes to the process of healing in this oracle commentary. The use of the runes is limited, but within its own specialty, it will serve very well. The Serenity Prayer ("God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference) is held sacred in all 12-step programs ("_______ anonymous" as in Overeaters Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous) and to Blum himself. His writing holds its usual soothing balm to the soul feel and weaves a web of safety and capability around the reader. This is a marvelous guide for those who are struggling with the daily challenges of addiction and would like something fresh and new to give them a foothold in progress. 4

ISBN: 157324869X $14.95 How does anyone think of all this? Well, thanks to Susannah Seton and Sondra Kornblatt, you don't have to. The title does not lie. There are literally 365 marvelous ideas for bringing more energy and vibrancy into your life. It would be an injustice to try and cover all of the good ideas encompassed by this book, but they range from Energy Medicine (Donna Eden) to color therapy to affirmations to yoga to what you eat and well beyond. I am blown away by the sheer volume of ideas that seem to just keep coming and coming! Put it by your bedside and read 5-10 every night. Put it in the bathroom for potty breaks or long baths! Keep it in your purse to read when you're waiting in line at the bank. Do whatever you need to do to internalize each and every one of these wonderful suggestions. This book is a fabulous launching pad to living a more energetic life. 5
