It was with a particular hesitancy that I picked up yet another almanac of the magical persuasion.  Llewellyn seems to have flooded the market with an overkill of different almanacs in the past few years and I could hardly see the need for yet another one.  What a shame it would have been had they decided to trim their inventory with this one!  What a marvelous compendium!

With a different staff of writers from the now famous (and nearly qualifying for verbose) Magical Almanac, it takes on a whole new tone from its homespun predecessor.  Hip and bold, both in its graphics and its articles, the Wicca Almanac goes into such timely subjects as how the Craft is represented both in music and the cinema, Pagan fashions, a FRUGAL Witch's guide to acquiring tools and sacred sites right here in America.  Artwork featured in the almanac includes the work of Marc Potts (http://www.duirwaighgallery.com/Paintings/newpaintings/potts/hedgewitch2.html), Cari Buziac (http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/loth/c/a/cari/crysalis.gif.html) and Stephanie Law (http://www.shadowscapes.com/) as well as a plethora of impressive and appropriate computer generated illustrations to compliment the articles.

I found the Wicca Almanac to be considerably less pretentious than the Magical Almanac and I fully recommend it, particularly for bathroom reading!  It's a gimmicky idea that fully paid off.
