In this primer for a new generation and a new continent of Witches, Anthony Paige delivers a stunningly concise overview of modern craft and the events leading up to its current state of evolution.  From a sobering discussion of the Salem witch trials in which power crazed teens were used as Witch dowsers to the basic tenets of Craft, the author weaves a strong and informative web that draw the reader in and educates both Craft and nonCraft folk alike.  He deftly sidesteps the whole Gerald Gardner credibility issue and instead focuses on wonderful profiles of American Witches and sacred places.  The last half of the book is a valuable compendium of magickal basics and spellwork that is concise, yet quite complete.  Although at times, the book seems to come across from the perspective of a removed observer of the Craft, the stance is fitting given the factual presentation of the subject matter.  I would highly recommend this book to the beginning practitioner.  It would be a definite asset to any personal Pagan library.
