Fast becoming a standard in writing of all things
magical, Ms Eason distinguished herself to me with the beautiful book,
A Complete Guide to Night Magic. She has a
delicate and magical way about her writing, and I sense about herself,
that lends a nearly childlike quality to her work.
Interestingly
enough, one must remember when engaging this book that Eason seems to view
magical beings as corporal beings rather than thought forms, which can be
a difficult leap to make for some folks. If you suspend reality for
a bit and go into Eason's world where such beings exist beyond the third
eye, this book will be infinitely more enjoyable.
Exercises are
given for seeing fairies and a brief nod is given to scientific
explanation, citing William's Syndrome, which causes those who have it to
have stunted growth, big eyes, etc that could have, at one time, been
translated out in times gone by to the traditional changeling, etc look.
Eason quickly dismisses the theory by pointing out that this does not
account for other magical beings that are a part of our mythology.
Eason also
gives instructions for finding the leylines and magical places in your
area, beginning with the obtaining of an Ordinance Survey Landranger
series map.
Suspend
reality and you will learn a great deal in this extensive reference of
magical beings.
