I have a stack of Raven Grimassi books that I have read and am prepared to review, but Goddess love him, he tends to get a bit repetitive and meandering, so admittedly, I've been putting off the reviews. Having had the distinct pleasure of meeting Mr. Grimassi and hearing him lecture, I know that this is "his way."  Very unassuming and gentle in nature, he holds the microphone almost as an after thought and ambles across the stage, chatting with the audience as if speaking to old friends.  In moments, you forget you are at a lecture and begin to feel as though you want to offer him a refill on his drink and a bunk for the night.  In short, I adore this man.  Until I actually saw him, his writing drove me crazy.  Now, I love it because I hear him speaking in my ear with that gentle voice and amazing wealth of education and experience.

Now, I told you that to tell you this.

Ol' Raven seriously tightened it up for this new work.  The Encyclopedia of Wicca & Witchcraft is an endeavor unlike any other, despite the fact that other authors have modeled a similar form to their compendia.  This work is so complete, the effort must have been absolutely exhaustive.  I have been a High Priestess for nearly twenty years and as I read through this book, I literally cannot thing of one entry, one person, one Pagan word that is not included in this volume.  This encyclopedia is not a nice luxury for the well stocked Craft library.  It is positively a necessity.  Now pony up the twenty-five bones and buy this book.  It's worth every single penny.

Meanwhile, what I wouldn't give to have Raven Grimassi sitting on my couch with a glass of wine, talking to my coven and sharing his wonderful point of view.  C'mon, Strega Man, you're just in San Francisco... a mere 3-4 hours away...

I give it:
