In her first book, Of Witches,
Ms Thompson created an underground handbook for Witches everywhere with a
delightful overview of what Witches do. Although she continues to
display her considerable knowledge and ability with Magical Hearth,
it left me wanting more. Reminiscent of Scott Cunningham's
Magical Household, it provides easy ways to bring magic into your home
and your life. It almost attempts to cover too much material for
such a small volume, so it barely skims the surface of each subject;
hence, the feeling of wanting more. Thompson gives good discussion
of altars to erect in different rooms of the house, which is wonderful,
but there seems to be a lack of congruency holding the work together.
The chapter that equates out aspects of the Goddess to a woman's life is
extremely well done, as is the "Witch's Wheel," giving an overview of the
sabbats. The recipe section of cures and spells is a perfect example
of what is wonderful and what is lacking in this book. The
information provided is excellent in content and style, but there just
isn't enough of it.

3 pent out of 5
and it gives me great pain
to only give it three.
