As with her previous book, Simple
Wicca, Morgan's gentle hand guides us through a whimsical, magical
dance with the Tarot, never being overbearing or bogging down the text
with too much information, but providing sufficient material to create an
enjoyable relationship for anyone and their cards. Her
interpretations, covering the standard 78 Tarot cards (using Princess
rather than Page) are inspired and lovely. I learned a great deal
from seeing the cards through her eyes and I have read the Tarot for 20
years. The author gives brilliant instruction in how to read the
cards ("Open your mouth and start talking), aptly coaxing the novice
reader to trust themselves and not filter. One of the most notable
comments that is a theme through the book, garnering my appreciation is
her advice to not treat the reading of the Tarot as "thinking"
thing, but rather, as a "feeling" thing.
The most valuable gift I feel Morgan
offers in this book is the cultivation of a relationship between the
reader and the cards. I loved her comment to the effect that if you
have a wonderfully embroidered pouch in which to keep your deck, that's
sweet, but TAKE THEM OUT AND GET TO KNOW THEM! I couldn't have said it
better myself.
Morgan seems to have mastered the art of
introductory books and this furthers that assessment. Brilliant book
for the novice or the advanced reader.
