A Book of Pagan Rituals
by Herman Slater (Editor)

Paperback: 160 pages ; Dimensions (in inches): 0.40 x 9.99 x 6.53
Publisher: Red Wheel/Weiser; (December 1978)
ISBN: 0877283486

Slater's first effort is far superior to his second, which is Pagan Rituals III, referring to the fact that this book is divided into two sections of Basic Pagan Rituals and Advanced Pagan Rituals.  This book was originally divided into separate volumes for the first printing in 1974 and then combined for future releases.

The rituals given are timeless, as is the personal writing provided by Slater.  Rituals are included for rites of passage, sabbats and moon cycle working, as well protection and meditation.  One snafu that is glaringly apparent is that he describes why a circle should be cast and uncast, but does not instruct the reader as to how to do it. Still, the book is an eloquent collection of musings and rituals that would be as appropriate to release today when it was initially published.  In my opinion, this is one of our classics and is a must-have for the Pagan library.
