Tarot of the Dead ISBN 0-7387-0427-X This deck, based on Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), is a pastel joy. Friends of mine call it "The Jerry Garcia Deck" because its Day of the Dead artwork is so commonly used on Grateful Dead album covers. Classic suits are replaced with pistols, reels, coffins and pens, however the major arcana remains true to typical decks. It's a pity that the lovely artwork was not more completely extended into the minor arcana, which remains unadorned, going with "four reels" and "seven coffins" rather than illustrations providing a story like progression through the minor arcana. If it had a more illustrated Tarot, it would be near perfect, but I have to knock off a pentacle for not being minor arcanaly entertained and inspired.
