Teen
Witch Kit
by: Silver RavenWolf
ISBN 1-56718-554-1
128-pg. illus. book, spell bag, spell salt, golden coin, silver wish cord,
silver bell, natural quartz
Price $24.95
Worth every penny! I thought I would consider this
kit hokey, but on the contrary, in a society where we have young Witches
coming up fast in power and wanting to know what to do with it, Mama
Silver has put together a wonderful kit of tools, instruction and even a
box that converts into an altar! Although there is a great deal of
resistance by modern Witches to educate the younger ones, Silver
recognized early on that a need must be fulfilled. We're in a new
age and a new generation and pretending that young people don't exist or
have spiritual needs is both myopic and careless. Both this kit and
her book, Teen Witch approach Craft in a realistic and (don't
cringe, old Witches) fun fashion that educates while stressing the
important responsibilities that come with engaging one's own inner power
as well as that which is external from us. Silver was, to my
knowledge, the first to reach out to an upcoming generation of young
Witches and she has done so with love and respect, both for us and for The
Craft.

Teen
Witch: Wicca for a New Generation
by: Silver Ravenwolf
ISBN 1-56718-725-0
7"x10", 30 illus., bibliog., index
Price $12.95
The first of its kind to address a new
generations of Witches, most of whom are raised in the Craft and are
looking for instruction on their level, Silver has spoken out in a din of
voices decrying against handing such "esoteric" knowledge to "the babies."
We're here and we need to be taught! Although we who were raised in
the Craft are more fortunate than those who are drawn to it on their own
(and are often told "wait until you are older" to answer the calling of
our spirit!), still, the needs are different and our parents don't always
know how to relate Craft to a younger level. Silver does and has
written a wonderful handbook for the teen Witch, regardless of their level
of knowledge going in.
She has tapped a very necessary and
growing market and all who come after this book are there because of her
efforts.
It's not merely the addressing of the
need, but also of the specific information given, which is very age
appropriate (unlike my impression of Witchin)
and directed toward the needs of the younger Witch. No, she does not
"tell them just enough to get them into trouble." The author keeps
the reader grounded in the levity of being a Witch while still allowing
them to fly in the sacred skies.

Elements
of Witchcraft: Natural Magick for Teens
by: Ellen Dugan
SBN 0-7387-0393-1
Price $14.95
I did not find that this book had the
feel of being directly targeted to teens as I did with Silver Ravenwolf's
teen book and kit, but the information was still extremely interesting and
appropriate. I would recommend this book to Witches of all ages,
particularly for the wonderful exploration of the elements. The
rituals and spells provided are very good, utilizing easily acquired
items. This is a lovely and well written book, full of information
for those who wish to forge a closer relationship with the elements around
them.

Teen
Goddess: How to Look, Love & Live Like a Goddess
by: Catherine Wishart
ISBN 0-7387-0392-3
Price $14.95
We are so very blessed to live in a time
where there are no less than 4 easily available (and I'm sure there are
more out there) excellent books directed to teens, all very deserving of a
full five pentacle rating.
This one is no less than that, giving
not only vivid and informative information on the Craft and connecting
with the Goddess within, but also what I would call "visitations" with
several specific Goddesses, allowing the reader to bask in their presence
and experience their distinct personalities. Every female Witch, not
just the teen ones, should read and follow the exercises in this book to
awake those aspects of the Goddess within them.
