I first encountered Ms.
Morrison in her book, Yule, in which she
completely won me over with her easy, homespun style of writing.
The homey presence seems to be inherent in Morrison herself as it
continues here, gently bringing the reader into her world of The Craft
and giving the feeling that you are sharing warm thoughts with a Witchy
friend over a cup of tea. She offers up "new" charges of the God
and Goddess that lovely rhymes that I will often use myself. She
takes a unique view of associating particular emotions (loving is water,
stubborn is earth...) to elements and giving instruction for balancing
out extremes. The book is well planned and nicely arranged, giving
a generous flow to the reading that carries the reader along in a steady
current of information. From cultivating a relationship with your
"wand tree" to the study of each of the monthly moons, this book is
absolutely the perfect Craft companion. Each tool gets its own
chapter to be discussed in detail. The appendices are wonderful
and the it's hard to imagine how the correspondences could be more
complete. Her wise statement of "You can't educate those who do
not want to learn" can be turned back in a very positive way in saying
that Ms Morrison can definitely do a fine job of education those who
do want to learn.
