The careful attention Ms Simms provides in The Witch's Circle and her newest book, Moon Tides, Soul Passages,  she also provides regarding planetary hours in this book. Sadly, eclectic practitioners tend to scoff at tracking planetary hours, feeling it is too time consuming and intricate of a study to apply to simple magick. The author teaches us that this simply is not so, using her very gracious and infinitely understandable explanations of the astrological processes to show novices how to successfully negotiate the heretofore too treacherous waters of planetary hours.

Interwoven with lovely Pagan/Wiccan references (although not so as it would be off-putting to the non-initiated), Simms takes us on an enticing and interesting journey through the charting and mathematics of the computations, as well as providing delightful and inspiring rituals and meditations for the magick of each planet individually.

If the initial obective of this book was to demystify astrology while leaving the spirit and magick of it intact, Maria Kay Simms has gone above and beyond in that challenge. Even I, a priestess who fully admits to having virtually no left brain, can do this. By accessing my miniscule left brain by means of my imposing and ever-encroaching right brain, she managed to help me get the hang of it.

Kudos to Ms Simms for another wonderful book that should be included on each and every serious practitioner's shelf of required reading.

I give it:
